Custom Tours - Muir Woods, Sausalito, and the North Coast

Those Magnificent Redwoods   Want to get away from the hustle-bustle of the big city? Spend a half-day visiting the ancient redwood trees of Muir Woods, the hillside village of Sausalito, and the stunning Marin Headlands. Again, Blue Heron can tailor this tour in any way you like.

Oceanside Vistas   Experience the dramatic meeting of land and sea that is the Northern California Coast. Spend a day meandering up the coast. We start with the Marin Headlands for spectacular views of San Francisco, and then slowly work our way up the coast, visiting the small beach towns of Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, and Bolinas. Depending on your interests and schedule, we can also stop at a lighthouse overlooking the Golden Gate (limited hours of operation), a center for rehabilitating sick and injured marine mammals, Muir Woods, and bird observatories (again, hours are limited). And we will stop at our favorite vista point overlooking the Pacific.

This private tour costs $595 for a group of 1, 2, or 3 persons and $640 for 4, 5, or 6 persons. The price does not include entry fees, meals, or driver gratuity.

Point Reyes Ramblings   Spend a day in West Marin County. Walk along the San Andreas Fault and see how it moved in the great 1906 Earthquake. Enter a recreated Miwok village. Climb down 10 stories of stairs to see a beautiful lighthouse perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific (limited hours). In the spring, see fields of beautiful wildflowers. Look for migrating whales. Visit the other North and South Beaches, where waves pound beautiful sandy beaches. See the nearby small towns of Point Reyes Station, Inverness, and Olema, where you can get a great lunch or pick up supplies for a picnic.

If you love oysters, you can buy them right out of the water and shuck your own at a bayside picnic.

If you are a cheese fan, West Marin is home to some artisan cheese makers that are lighting up the culinary world. You will definitely want to pick up some cheese for your picnic or to take back to your hotel room for snacks.

This two-day tour starts with winetasting in the beautiful Anderson Valley, which follows the Navarro River inland from the Pacific. The cool, ocean breezes help create perfect growing conditions for Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and other cool-weather grapes. Tasting rooms are small and crowds infrequent. You'll overnight along the Pacific coast and wake up to the sound of crashing waves. We will help you pick lodging and restaurants that you are sure to enjoy. On the second day, you'll have time to wander the streets of the charming town of Mendocino before driving back to San Francisco along beautiful California Route 1. This private, two-day tour costs $1,490. The price includes all costs except winetasting fees, lodging (both for you and the driver), meals, and driver gratuity.
