Today, the Mother Lode is home to small, Gold Rush towns full of antique shops and historic sights. The region has a long history of producing wine, but early on the wine was not the highest of quality. In recent years small, boutique wineries opened and now produce excellent Zinfandel (red, not pink), Barbera, and other warm-weather varietals. During this two-day tour you'll visit the quaint towns of Amador City and Sutter Creek and taste wine in California's Shenandoah Valley. The area is full of quaint inns and bed and breakfasts.
